Conducting Remote Interviews With Guests
The ability to bring in a guest remotely for an interview is priceless. You can dial someone in from literally anywhere in the world and go live with them on the spot. Below is what you will need:
- Your normal Switcher Studio setup
- A spare iPad/iPhone running iOS 11 or higher
- One 3.5mm-to-3.5mm cable
- One audio mixer
- One iRig Pre adapter
- One XLR cable
First, install the Skype app onto your spare iOS device. Log into Skype (or create an account if you do not have one). Do a conference call with your guest using Skype, so that you can both see each other via video conferencing.
Then, use iOS screensharing from your Skype device to bring the call into Switcher Studio: https://switcherstudio-support.switcherstudio.com/article/121-cast-an-ios-screen-to-switcher-studio-ios-screensharing.
You can use our multi-view effects like Splitscreen, Slots, and Dashboard to place both you and your guest's feed up onto the screen at the same time, when needed: https://switcherstudio-support.switcherstudio.com/article/103-using-multi-view-effects.
You will need to run a cable from your Skype iOS device into an audio mixer so that you hear the guest's audio. Do this by connecting one end of the 3.5mm-to-3.5mm cable into the iOS device, and the other end into the audio mixer.
Connect your host's microphone into the audio mixer as well so that you hear the host's audio. Lastly, connect your mixer to your main switching device by using this method: https://switcherstudio-support.switcherstudio.com/article/11-how-do-i-use-an-audio-mixer.
